Inspired by: Dr Hou was motivated by an odd conversation over morning tea, during which he found that a chocolate chip cookie is preferable than a sandwich, which is difficult to grasp due to its layer-by-layer structure. The cell phone screen is sandwich-like in construction and thus prone to breakage. As a result, the team was inspired to develop a screen that is more like a “chocolate chip cookie”, with the small quantum dots that emit light embedded in the glass substrate for increased durability.
