The insertion of electronic chips into the component parts would stop this level of theft as the components chip could be codified with the engine number. Similarly, bicycles could be facilitated with similar electronic chips. The ultimate would be a micro alarm at police check points to identify stolen part. The electronic driving licence and Insurance policy to have similar codification with engine numbers.

This could put a stop to car theft.
