This proposes the use of unmanned aerial vehicles to aid in the detection and location of downed aircraft in a search and rescue scenario. Developments and innovations in the utilization of autonomous, coordinated UAVs to accomplish complicated missions provides an excellent opportunity to employ not only visual ground scanning capabilities but the ability to deploy airborne radio receivers to detect signals and perform triangulation calculations to quickly and efficiently locate radio signals emitted from emergency locator transmitters.
