Jim Potter is a father of two sons (Allen and John) and lives in Novi, Michigan. He holds a Masters degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Michigan. Jim is an author of numerous papers on automatic and hybrid system control mainly focused on predictive control of system capability, and overall system efficiency optimization. He began is career at General Motors, working on hydraulic and electronic control systems in the advanced transmission systems department. Since 1999, he has focused on hybrid system control, working on both advanced and production programs for hybrid electric and hydraulic hybrid vehicle systems. The hybrid production programs include both the Ford Escape and BMW X6 hybrids along with the current program of a parallel HEV for commercial vehicles.
