Vision: Not one child on this planet should be prevented from getting an education because his/her family cannot afford a simple pair of prescription glasses. Restoring Sight through Refractive Correction is one of the most efficient ways to alleviate poverty.

Mission: Our mission is to provide “Clear Vision” affordably for children (secondarily adults) with greatest need.

Problem: 239M children and 950M people worldwide (48M children and 100M people in India) have myopia but their parents cannot afford to buy them a simple pair of glasses. These children cannot even see the blackboard, or see the stars, or mountains, or birds, and as a result it affects their learning ability and brain and cognitive development. They are 3X more likely to fall behind in class, they become societal liability and create safety hazards. The global cost of lost productivity due to myopia is estimated at $244 Billion. It is predicted that half of the world’s population will be myopic by 2050.

The top two primary problems among many are: For one, it is the lack of robust and quality glasses at a price point that people can afford and secondly, it is inefficient distribution, supply chain and channels to reach the children.

Solution: Two components: Providing robust and cost-effective eyeglasses and a secure AI SaaS platform - Divya Drishti™ that provides delivery of glasses from producer to the child in one step using Optometrists or Ophthalmic Assistants as the channel.

  1. Product: Good quality durable, and attractive pediatric prescription glasses at a price of $5-$10 delivered within 15 minutes of their examination. A bulk shipment of eyeglasses will be sent by the manufacturer directly to the screening location (e.g. school) just in time where the Optometrist will screen the children. There will be a number of frames of different sizes, shapes, color, and material and lenses of different diopters and they will be defined by predictive capabilities of the AI platform. Balak Drishti will work with a breadth of manufacturers who can meet the quality standards, price points, and delivery timelines.
  2. SaaS Platform (Divya Drishti™): The business model is to go from producer to consumer in one step using the Optometrist as the channel thereby optimizing the long supply chain. This secure AI platform will consist of large, anonymized datasets with millions of past records over 5+ years from eye hospitals, vision centers, manufacturers, and NGOs to predict and ship the frames/lenses required for a given population of students in a school. The dataset required would consist of age, gender, OD/OS SPH/CYL/Axis related to the lenses, and frame size, shape, and color. The platform will provide data visualization, dashboard analytics, billing/payment processing, and information retrieval. It will provide training and Continuing Education for the parents, teachers, and optometrists and will automate the entire process, reduce transcription errors, and provide nationwide traceability through robust and secure platform.

A patent is in process to be able to deliver lenses with both spherical as well as cylindrical component in the field in real time.
