Modernity offers us number of products that we can use daily in our homes or outside like beauty and self-care products or aromatic products. And many of us almost forget that some of these products are chemically produced that we directly apply to our skin.

Daily consumption of deodorant spray, make up, burning scented candles and incense products, introduce us in a low dose chronic exposure to chemicals which could be harmful for all the members of the family specially our children which are below 10 years of age. Being exposed to toxic substances from these products are not beneficial to any of us.

Adding the improper ventilation of our home and workplace to the equation can affect our health.
At home, infants are putting stuffs in their mouth and crawling on the floor. They are ingesting dust particles and chemicals that settle on the ground, on objects and surfaces within their reach, or particles that are suspended on the air. They can inhale the nano particles and children below 10 years old are not able to detox them.

Unfortunately, our children are not aware to this daily low dose exposure and they cannot even tell us that they are being exposed to toxins. And adults rarely can identify that daily, due to the products they consume, they are being expose to chemicals inside their home and in workplace.

So how could we able to know toxin exposure of our family member?

And how can our children communicate to us parents when they are exposed to fumes and chemicals that we adults scatter in our homes?

Adults wear smart watches or smart clothing, wearable to monitor their health and fitness. And we need a device for our toddlers to monitor the quality of the environment where they move around.

“Toddler Buddy” (TB) is an accessory for our little ones that are not able to speak on what they are being exposed to. TB help our children communicate to us parents the condition of the environment they are currently at.

This device will be clipped on the clothing, like a paper clip that has built in sensor that can able to detect volatile organic compounds, carbon dioxide and formaldehyde similar to an air quality sensor do, but in smaller size. The device will be able also to measure dust on the surrounding because experts suggest that house dust is an important route of toxicant exposure.

From the accessory sensor clipped to the clothing of our toddlers, it will communicate to the mobile phone of their parents. Parents can check the reading on the screen of the phone or receive notification if there is a presence of toxins around the kids.

Because the screen is already on the phone, required power is for the sensor only which scales down the size the accessory and requiring lesser raw materials.

In this way, we give a different language for our children to communicate their need for quality environment.
