In the traditional aviation industry, sealant removal is one of most terrible types of work for front line mechanics. Until now no mechanic would like to pick up this kind of task if they have the right to choose especially inside fuel tanks and or very limited space. As I had over 40+ years in aviation maintenance, therefore I try to fix it before I retire. First thing I have to find is an effective cutting tip then down to machine. Then I try many different materials, ending up with Polyetheretherketone and operating force chose vibration force which less hurt to operator even accidentally touching the cutting tip That is where the whole story came from. Then I go to find verify method to ensure cutting tip only cut off sealant but no damage to the substrate. Through trial and error, the end result is shown on this statement. The whole equipment has over 14 different types of cutting tips for different locations, for these 14 types can almost apply onto all areas on the aircraft.

The tooling consists of Polyetheretherketone as cutting tip and with a powerful vibration force pneumatic tool. The pneumatic tool is tiny and light weight only 2.2" X 7.8 " in size with 37800 RPM powerful. In which it can be very easy to cut sealant.
