Soft Water Solar System

In the Mexican Yucatan Peninsula, we have hard water with high mineral content. To lower the calcium we use reverse osmosis. This method use energy and required constant maintenance and supervision.

We researched and found a low-temperature and low-pressure distillation water process as an option.

In this process we evaporate the water at temperatures of 45C, 113F and condensate at 30C, 86F we move this water through a condenser in a distillation process. The final water is mineral free.

Normally the steam property tables used in engineering start in 212 F, this is because was for moving machines.

The difference is we used a solar heat exchange for rise the temperature. This process has less electrical parts and no pumps. We use a small extractor fan for the low-pressure at the system.

We build a prototype for measure the rate production and calculate the size of a commercial one.

The prototype work, we use PVC and copper pipes as easy to reach materials.

The original design is for a remote location, ranch o rural area where the people travel 20 or more miles for buy drinkable water in 5-gallon bottles. Our design can produce 13 gallons per day or 2.5 of these recipients.

This system can work when is few persons at the house, accumulate the water and use when is necessary.

The more common objection we find is the” push a button and have purified water” of the under the sink water systems.

Our system is in the roof and can produce soft water with solar panels more constant and used less energy and the design and materials are for future fix and log life cycle.

We say this is a semi-autonomous system because still produce water without supervision and the persons can used later.

We think what if we can partner with a company to select materials and improve the circulation design and the manufactured process we can make a competitive autonomous water process system.

The same design can use electrical heat elements and work 24 hours. The process can scale to industrial size too.

A similar design can use for condensate the water in the atmosphere. This type of process with more sun and less electricity sound like something for the actual climate partners and carbon print goals.

Where can used? In hard water available areas, in remote locations, or a off the grid residence.
