Waterlogging incidents that can be fatal to vehicle and passenger safety have grown more frequent and severe as a result of urbanization, climate change. The AquaGuard project will be responsible for creating a new type of safety system that aims to protect vehicles and their occupants in enclosed waterlogged spaces. AquaGuard is powered by cutting-edge sensors, communication technology and robotics to create a one-stop solution for managing the water-logging problem. An array of water-level sensors are used to actively monitor and detect the presence of flooded conditions. The central control unit translates data from these sensors in real-time and coordinates with vehicles via a purpose-built app, as well as GPS navigation.

AquaGuard, for example, provides additional waterproofing and deployable barriers to keep water out of vehicles making them more resilient. The system is also equipped with high powered electrical power solutions such as backup batteries and generators, to ensure the systems function during a blackout. In addition to this, the installation of AquaGuard in city infrastructure is providing for smart construction and drainage innovation that will help prevent water buildup.

This work is responding to a clear and present urgency around automotive safety in modern, open urban areas. AquaGuard aims to eliminate the risks affiliated with confined water logging through a technological breakthrough combined with pragmatic engineering solutions while assuring Safe smooth transit for all.
