The over-application of chemical-based toxic pesticides and insecticides has caused great health concerns for consumers. Some sources claim around 385 million cases of UAPP (Unintentional Acute Pesticide Poisoning) occur annually worldwide including around 11,000 fatalities, which is based on a worldwide farming population of approximately 860 million. This means that about 44% of farmers are poisoned by pesticides every year, and various science studies suggest that many of the chemicals used in making these pesticides are suspected carcinogens. They pose serious threat to the consumers as well. These toxic pest management techniques also greatly impact the environment and destroy entire ecosystems.

With this in mind, we developed a alternative environmentally sustainable solution: an IoT enabled stand alone device with high frequency Ultra Sonic Emitters strategically placed in the agricultural plots and farm-fields. These devices generate high frequency ultrasonic waves, which causes interference with their auditory system causing discomfort and warding off the encroaching bugs and pests and other animals such as birds, small rodents and deers etc. without the application of any harmful chemicals.

This system works on an integrated IoT platform with an comprehensive U.I. which incorporates the emitters, sensors on the field and user friendly web extension easily for the operator. This system is designed in a way which does not prioritize exterminating or cause harm to the encroaching pests and animals, making it safe for the ecosystem as well as for the human by eliminating toxic exposure.

The deployment of high frequency ultrasonic emitters creates a exclusion zone where these sound waves which are inaudible to human ears, interfere with the natural navigation systems used by most insects and birds and cause discomfort to animals which generally encroach fields such as small rodents like rabbits, hares and mice along with deers and other similar animals which exhibit heightened auditory sensitivity without seriously threatening them. As these hazardous pesticides affect the primary links in the food chains, they can easily devastate entire ecosystems, like DDT which nearly drove the entire populations of Bald Eagle, Peregrine Falcons, and Brown Pelicans towards extinction in 1970's by poisoning their prey.

With the widespread application of our system we hope to minimize the tragic effects of harmful chemicals on the ecosystem and the environment without hindering the growth of the agricultural sector.
