PROBLEM
Cervicocranium is the area extending from Occiput, C1 (Atlas) and C2 (Axis) vertebrae. Anatomical particularity that makes it a problem for conventional Atlanto-Occipital Joint imaging is that it is a pure rotational joint, and therefore, it is the most difficult area to deal with without tools that control rotation during positioning during the imaging. Any rotation in the C1/C2 directly translates into angular distortion, and that directly translates into diagnostically flawed X-ray images with poor diagnostic quality.
Under utilization of diagnostic imaging in this area is unfortunate since a large proportion of patients remain undiagnosed despite seeking medical help. The result is the patients, generally, given painkillers to control their pain, which is often a “hit-or-miss”, as well as a primitive therapy, which does not effectively target the underlying condition. Pain lasts for years, is progressive and is painful. Diagnostic imaging tools are not readily available for rendering a 3-D controlled head positioning.
PROBLEM SOLVED
The SMARTRAY® device is a patent pending AI technology system with a user-friendly interface for precise head positioning in space and repositioning to the same exact positioning at any point later controlling all axes of rotation. The system improves diagnostic imaging of Head, Cervicocranial and Cervical structures. It provides means to reduce ionizing radiation exposure among population due to a reduced amount of imaging required and enables the use of the medical diagnostic modality on the efficient network that greatly enhances communication between registered interested stakeholders.
Coupling the SMARTRAY® with the PGUIS™ opens doors to enable larger data statistical analyses for the purpose to improve specific treatment protocols, and ultimately, to improve studies of disease progresses and prognoses.
THE BENEFITS
The benefits of this technology are immense. Due to significantly increased accuracy in positioning, imaging systems provide the best diagnostically acceptable imaging studies. It, therefore, eliminates unnecessary X-ray exposures to ionizing radiation. Joining this diagnostic modality with the PGUIS™ groundbreaking technology provides the ability to ascertain a distinct and unique identity in order to obtain and exchange information over a large-scale network over a patient’s lifetime. There is no other positioning system available that allows for noninvasive repeated precise head positioning and repositioning to the same exact positioning later in space in close proximity with high magnetic or electrostatic fields.
Utilization of the C1/C2 proper quality diagnostic imaging would provide necessary information for medically necessary and reasonable follow up referrals for other diagnostic tests for that area and care which, ultimately, be improving quality of life.
The associated use of PGUIS™ aims to address data management, tracks data across data sources, and has potential application in terms of best patient care, healthcare insurance, information exchange and prevention of rampant ID fraud in healthcare just to name a few. If a patient is managed with different ID’s across the nation, or even globally on multiple different single networks, the data from multiple networks could be securely available to any doctor authorized to receive the information via PGUIS™.
