The 5th Brake (Horizontal Brake)

The current braking system solely relies on the friction of tires. Fatal accidents on roads happen when the brake system fails to generate enough friction. In other words, the resultant force wasn’t strong enough to resist the momentum of a car.

The friction, unlike the shock damping, doesn’t depend on the amount of surface in contact or the relative speed of a car. The friction depends on the magnitude of the forces that holds two objects together.

So, when the turning wheels stop, it starts to generate a force of friction in an opposite direction. However, there are many other factors such as road conditions, weather, tire condition...etc. that accounts for failure to stop.

What if you had added a brake system.

This invention is about adding the 5th Brake that is retractably mounted on the car. It adds additional strong friction force against the road which causes additional resistance force to act against traveling car.

However, the kinetic energy of a traveling car is quite substantial, so landing the 5th brake in any shape or angle on the ground could cause destructive resistance force that can damage the car.

Therefore, to effectively add the 5th Braking system to the car, this invention uses the Diagonal Lateral Resistance Stopper which is one of the strongest geometric shapes known to mankind.

Using the Diagonal Resistance Stopper, the upper part of the stopper is rotationally connected(anchor) at bottom of a car, and when it deploys it expands towards to front of a car in a diagonal.

And when it is deployed the lower part of the stopper formed with a rough foot(or spike) lands on the ground, which adds additional friction to a car.

A System like this can function as added 5th emergency brake.

Despite the added 5th Brake System can do its emergency braking well, the decelerating can occur in a very harsh way.

To dampen harsh braking, it can form a horizontal shock absorber at rotational anchor with the back of this mounted towards to back of the car. So, once the shock is delivered to said anchor point, it forwards the shock to the horizontal shock absorber to dampen the shock and then sent to the car to resist kinetic energy to slow down the car.

To make this 5th Brake System work more effectively it can form the said rotational anchor similar to the “Push-Rod Suspension Mechanism”, the only difference would be it is mounted from front to back, so one of the axes that are connected on the car frame rotates this anchor from front to back and downward.

By adopting this Multi-Rotational Axes Anchor, the applied shock is now then forwarded not only to the back of the car in horizontal it further pushes down the car towards the ground. This Push-Rod anchor with a Horizontal Shock Absorber prevents the resistance friction force pushing the car upward.

This 5th Brake System can Bring a Car to a Complete Stop at the last second.
