Extending broadband internet services, especially to rural areas, is growing in demand.
One approach to addressing this demand is to extend cellular networks by erecting new cell towers in rural areas.
Yet towers, wind turbine towers, are being erected, at ever increasing rates, in rural and near offshore areas as wind farms are planted.
Instead of building two sets of towers, one for broadband service and another for wind turbines, combine these towers into one. Hence, as wind farms get planted, broadband capabilities expand too.
This hybrid approach would enable all broadband benefits, like precision farming, but also precision fishing, to these underserved areas without two sets of towers.
This would result in a win-win-wind situation.
