How do blind person read? Currently, there are two major options or category for a blind person to read books. The first one is using Braille imprinted on paper. It is one of the oldest and universally accepted systems of writing used by and for blind persons and consisting of a code of 63 characters, each made up of one to six raised dots arranged in a six-position matrix or cell. These Braille characters are embossed in lines on paper and read by passing the fingers lightly over the manuscript. The second one focus on audio conversion of text via AI. Non blind person can able to enjoy reading in public with his or her tablet just by installing a book that has thousands of pages but for blind person this is luxury. This is because it is challenging to carry Braille book with thousands of pages and using audio conversion have drawbacks for people who enjoy silent reading without using hearing aid and it is somehow limiting if you are in public and you did not have your headset.
This project will solve all this issue by delivering a one page Braille pad that can carry hundreds of thousands page of book just like our e-books. Using this device blind person can carry a tablet like device that can display unlimited amount of words written in form of Braille on one page that can change the form of the dot in each section when one is done reading the current page and click the next button found in the side of the Braille pad. Meaning Braille is made up of one to six raised dots arranged in a six-position matrix and the arrangement represents different characters. This pad can switch the arrangement of the dot when the next page button is pushed found on the side of the pad. The mechanism of this device has five major components; e-book data, AI, motor, fluid system, Braille dots. First we import e-books in to the device using file sharing systems. Second the AI reads the book by scanning each page by seeing the shape difference of each letter. Then the AI activates a motor that control fluid system which have separate systems to each Braille matrix. This will force the Braille dots upward according to the interpretation of the AI from the imported e-book data. The mechanism is more of like mechanical computer which uses AI for data interpretation.
The attached diagrams show the alphabetical order and depending up on the data interpretation each matrix cells can switch their form of arrangement. This will be future of Braille book.
