The Rotodyne principle has a niche market in future intercity travel in thawt the concept proposed will have a cruising speed close to regional propjets, be capable of landing in small areas and able to fly in adverse weather conditions such as low visibility where additional technology provides an augmented reality HUD.

An existing airframe to be adapted consists of major components from a prolific series of aircraft modified to match requirements by incorporating the Rotodyne principle. By doing this the costs of development of the update to the Rotodyne principle are greatly reduced and since there have been precedents to accomplish this kind of approach co-operatively the risks are minimal.

The 5 bladed Rotor System will be a derivative of an advanced rotor system with design characteristics well suited to the intent of this project. A hub will be redesigned to accommodate the variances needed to blend the lift system into the concept utilizing as much of the pylon design as possible and either designing in the original lead lag and flapping arrangement of the original Rotodyne OR using a derivative of a rigid rotor system scaled up to match the concept requirements. .......dependent on analysis results.

The full extent of CFD analysis and other computer related facilities will be utilized throughout to fully document the intent of the machine and its flight characteristics.

NRC has scale models of a representative airframe that can be modified to verify analysis.

The empennage shown in the first graphic is A Work in Progress The arrangement is to have a pair of ducted fan electrically powered rotors encased in a couple of fins for close quarter yaw control. Since the machine would be accessing small areas yaw control within these spaces would have to be robust and it is suggested that Ducted Fans will work well under these conditions.

Air bleed from the power plants would be engineered in collaboration with engine manufacturers and the ductwork configurations to the pressure jets would be via liaison researching historical archives and updating prior art by incorporating relevant advances in the technology.

Accumulating Pressure Jet design from all the advances made over the intervening years for noise suppression with some element of heterodyning will reduce the noise aspects to acceptable levels.

The autogyro configuration of the machine will be researched via historical data and updated accordingly perhaps as a partnership in what is shaping up to be an International Co-Operative venture.

Niche markets were mentioned at the start and the Canadian experience has always successfully exploited these. Canada for example is planning to open up its remote areas and the intent is being complicated due to climate change. The versatility of the proposed updated Rotodyne matches a number of ways of accomplishing this and together with other updated technology...Air Cushion Technologies....the Canadian hinterlands (as well as others globally) can be opened up in a benign sensible and inexpensive manner.

e Rotodyne principle has a niche market in future intercity travel in that the concept proposed.
