Commuting in megacities is still an unsettled issue and while population increases so does the restrictions and disapproval. For example, in New York City, among other problems “traffic congestion is causing damage to economic health to the tune of $20 billion a year. That $20 billion figure comes from looking at four categories where businesses and residents are forced to spend or lose money – travel time, operating costs, excess fuel and lost revenue” according to a study conducted by HDR for the Partnership for New York City*.
By listening Gen Z talking about the future of urban mobility, all seemed to agree with “a gucci capsule that flies and behaves lit”, the Boomers somehow approved this recalling “The Jetsons” and a Millennial added the request “just to be there fast and no driving please”.
Dunne & Raby stated in their book Speculative everything** “conceptual design are not only ideas, beside are ideals”. By taking full advantage of artificial Intelligence capable to control self-balancing, autonomous driving, drone technology and robotics, it seems that we are getting closer to the long-waited commuting ideal.
Therefore, Mich is essentially a surface/airborne transportation device, capable of improving the quality of personal mobility in the city, in order to recover the splendors of being here or there, get benefit of opportunities, be kind with the environment and save money. Moreover, thanks to its robotic skills, Mich behaves like an ally, supporting users in their daily necessities, collaborating with urban services and performing earth-friendly activities.
Because takes full advantage of artificial intelligence to go far beyond an efficient personal mobility device, increasing the degrees of freedom that empowers citizens to be in harmony with their intense dynamics, energy and everyday opportunities.
Mich participates in the individual mobility system, endowing own volition to the users in their multitasking roles and offering privacy and a cozy traveling experience in the dissimilar environs.
Mich is a community centered design proposal that celebrates sharing and collaboration to solve social demands and aspirations, is meaningful to the real needs that should define infrastructure, exchanges, city life, and sustainability.
