The TEC HVAC is a modification to the automotive transportation’s heating and cooling climate control system. The system shall be designed to integrate into a vehicle’s existing climate control system but shall incorporate stored thermal energy to cool and heat the vehicle’s cabin compartment; solar energy to power (or augment the existing power demand of) the climate control system; and a mobile application to remotely control various functions and operation of the existing climate control system. The objective of the TEC HVAC is to introduce a ‘Smart Auto’ Climate Control System to the automotive transportation industry – that is economically and environmentally compatible.

How does the TEC HVAC work: Thermal Energy is generated through the manipulation of thermoelectric energy [Thermal Electric Cooler (TEC)] and stored in a Thermal Energy Storage (TES) that contains a non-reactive filler material [Phase Change Material (PCM)]. This material shall be designed to absorb or release energy a predetermined thresholds, thus cooling or heating respectively.

When in operation, the primary power source will be monitored by a Programmable Controller Module (PCM). If the energy within the primary battery drops below a specified threshold the Solar Energy Grid will activate thus providing continuous operation and recharging the primary battery to a specified energy level. The PCM's Manual / Auto Mode, via the remote start feature shall have the capability to activate a Climate Control, based on preset parameters or a preset temperature, thus allowing cooling, and heating of the cabin compartment prior to entering the vehicle.
