Peristaltic Pump

Pumps rank second to electric motors as the most mass produced product in the world. The fastest growing pump market segment is “peristaltic” pumps. Peristaltic pumps use rollers to squeeze a substance through a flexible tube. Numerous uses for peristaltic pumps range from medical to industrial.

The majority of peristaltic pump manufacturers use rollers that are fixed that squeeze a tube with no compensating feature and overdesign the pressure exerted on the tube to assure consistent performance.

The inventor has succeeded in designing a pump with rollers that self-regulate to the limit of proper pressure against the tube and no more. The invention enables longer life of the tube, the critical and wearing component in peristaltic pumps especially in medical applications.

Perhaps the world's simplest, most efficient peristaltic pump; the design is scalable and can be made to service a variety of markets in addition to medical.

Other than the rotor affixed to a gearmotor shaft, the only moving part is a counter rotating roller squeezing a peristaltic tube with just enough pressure to get the job done. The pump features enhanced reliability and accompanying longevity of the tube itself unlike today’s commercially available peristaltic pumps.

The design is a culmination of years of effort to yield a product that has unlimited potential. A simple website can be linked describing adaptations of the invention.

The passion for creativity and the thrill of invention.

On a personal note, my paternal grandfather was a role model. He was awarded thirteen (13) US Patents, most of which are still in use today. He was persistent and many of his unique inventions are profoundly simple. Although to date I have only been awarded five (5) US Patents, I have followed his example.
