An earlier entry described an ambitious Advanced ACV (Hovercraft).

Design iterations around the XFlo Blower arrangement showed problems which are taking longer than anticipated to resolve.

This interim Design shows the Main Intent of the Concept and incorporates known technologies that are going mainstream via Griffon Hoverwork in the United Kingdom.

1...The Lift System utilizes an Advanced Skirt Design which in principle follows the guidelines of the Griffon 995ED ACV
1,1 The Lift Fans are advanced mixed flow types individually powered by BLDC Motors providing asymmetrical delivery as required to the cushion

2...The Propulsion System utilizes the Advanced Ducted Propellor arrangement featured in the Griffon 995ED. This system utilizes an Azimuth swiveling Propulsion setup providing exceptional manoeuvrability without the drag factor of in duct rudders.
2.1...The power delivery to the propellors is by advanced BLDCs fed from an onboard hybrid diesel electric system via controllers which together with variable pitch props provide favourable torque and thrust requirements.

3...The Power Plants are twin diesel electric units delivering on demand power to Lift and Propulsion Systems matching Mission requirements and topography variations via the Controllers in order to vary the power distribution according to Propulsion or Lift requirements.
3.1...Trading off the weight, complication and restraints of fixed mechanical transmission systems by substituting electrical drives, placement and orientation of the various onboard systems is enhanced and ballast is reduced
3.2...The advanced proprietary Aluminum based Battery system has been placed in abeyance due to electrolyte complications...a Lithium based system is being researched as an interim replacement

4...Advanced BLDC Motors (85%-93% efficiency) power both the Lift Fans and Propellors drawing power from the hybrid system as in 3 above. This arrangement is simpler, and a continuously variable power transmission competitive in weight to an equivalent fixed mechanical set up.
4.1...Torque input to BLDC motors will be conditioned via dedicated controllers which provide control of the individual blower and propellor configurations further improving their efficiency.

5...The monocoque structure of the hovercraft is all Carbon Fibre construction.

6...Navigational and Electronic devices are updated state-of-the-art components.

Since everything is individually powered by BLDC motors the system can be fine tuned making for higher operational efficiency. The placement of components can be arranged for the most efficient installation with greater ease than the design of an equivalent fixed and complex mechanical transmission.

In Hovercraft design, the power delivery to Lift and Propulsion is fixed early in Design since this conditions the design of the transmissions.

With this arrangement there is (electronically) a variable ratio equivalent which can be adjusted to suit virtually any operational condition encountered.
