Electric Vehicle Regenerative Acceleration

Our company, Potential Difference Inc., is now commercializing a new electric vehicle generator innovation that reverses the electric vehicle (EV) regenerative braking paradigm and introduces Electric Vehicle Regenerative Acceleration.

As the name implies EV Regenerative Acceleration accelerates the EV while recharging the EV's batteries rather than decelerating it as per EV regenerative braking.

EV regenerative braking occurs as a result of Generator Armature Reaction, which is a Counter-Electromagnetic-Torque produced inside the generator by the magnetic fields which are created around the current bearing wires inside all conventional generators when they are placed on-load and when delivering electric power, in this case to the EV's batteries.

The conventional (regenerative braking) generator's on-load induced counter-electromagnetic-torque performs negative work in opposition (in the opposite direction) to the torque direction provided by the inertia of the vehicle and this counter-electromagnetically-induced torque decelerates the EV.

The ReGenX EV Regenerative Acceleration Generator innovation introduces a Load Current Delay into the generator's operation and this Load Current Delay, delays (in the time domain) the current in the generator, which delays the magnetic field produced and the net effect is that this reverses Generator Armature Reaction (EV regenerative braking) and produces an on-load Complementary-Electromagnetic-Torque which works in concert with and in the same direction as the torque supplied by the vehicle rather than against it.

The greater the magnitude of recharge current supplied to the EV's batteries in traditional regenerative braking mode the greater the magnitude of counter-torque produced and the faster the EV is decelerated. As the EV is decelerated, the magnitude of recharge current eventually diminishes down to zero as battery recharging eventually ceases.

The greater the magnitude of current supplied to the EV's batteries in Regenerative Acceleration Mode, the greater the magnitude of Complementary-Torque produced and the faster the EV is accelerated. As the EV is accelerated, the magnitude of recharge current increases and the faster the rate of EV battery recharging and the more the EV is accelerated.

EV Regenerative Acceleration is Frequency of Operation Dependent. This means that above 26 km/hr the EV's generator produces Regenerative Acceleration and below 26 km/hr it produces regenerative braking. The transition is natural and seamless and is easily demonstrated in our road worthy Regenerative Acceleration Electric Vehicle Integration.

The ReGenX EV Regenerative Acceleration Generator design is a Salient Pole Axial Flux design which means the coils are individual and independent. This allows three different Modes of Operation which can be controlled by a CPU, such as Motor Mode, Regenerative Acceleration Mode and Regenerative Braking Mode. Because the coils are independent and autonomous, they can simultaneously be operated in any mode at any time to provide the best overall operation as required.

During EV acceleration all ReGenX Coils can be operated as Motor Coils and once the EV has ceased accelerating some or all the coils can operate in Regenerative Acceleration Mode simultaneously with coils that are operating in Motor Mode. The same applies during EV deceleration depending on the rate of EV deceleration desired.
