The idea consists of the creation of an electromagnetic propulsion system which can be utilized as an alternative for the propulsion by conventional jet engines used in modern day aviation. There are many theoretical proposals for various electromagnetic propulsion systems, but our idea makes use of the theory set out by Klaus Halbach in the 1980s. A basic approach is to run a propeller connected by means of a shaft to a motor that runs at a relatively high horsepower. The motor used to run the propeller produces a higher torque when compared to conventional dc motors with minimal core and iron losses. The motor in itself consists of a dual Halbach array arranged in a concentric pattern. A typical arrangement of the permanent magnets augments a magnetic field on one side while cancelling the field on the other side producing a rotational force. A wire winding of a copper coil is placed in between the two arrays and by inducing an emf the copper coil begins to rotate. This rotation of the copper coil is further magnified with the help of a shaft and a gear train turning the propeller. One significant advantage of this type of motor is that the back emf is sufficient to run the motor after the initial cycle is produced. The RPM( Rotation Per Minute) of the propeller is controlled by varying the EMF which is been given to the copper coil and also by varying the length of the gap between the copper coil and the circular Halbach array.

This type of propulsion system is advantageous to the aviation industry since it is clean source of energy and produces high efficiency with minimum environmental effects. Our idea is a proposal for aircraft flying on alternative energy sources in this case the propulsion is done by the electromagnetic effects of a permanent magnetic arrangement on a circular copper coil. The market potential of this propulsion system is very high as compared to the existing propulsion systems since it is highly efficient in powering drones and Micro Aerial Vehicles ,another important advantage of this motor is its simplicity in construction and its positive effects in producing a cleaner source of energy for propulsion of an aircraft.
