TECHNICAL FIELD
1-The present invention relates to a soother apparatus designed to monitor, assist breathing and heal respiratory ailments associated with nasal congestion in obligatory nose breathing new-borns and young infants.
2- This invention is specifically designed to reduce and relieve nasal obstruction by releasing medicated vapours whilst facilitating oral breathing. In addition the respiratory monitor produces a high pitched sound in the event of breathing failure.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
3-New-borns as for the first 4-6 months are obligatory nose breathers. The term obligate can be misleading, since technically infants can breathe through their mouth during certain instances, such as when crying but generally demonstrate a preference for nasal breathing. Infants need to breathe through their nose arises from the physical structure of the soft palate-a muscular fold that extends from the back of the roof of the mouth – is so close to the epiglottis — a flap of cartilage that covers and protects the wind pipe during the act of swallowing. Physical growth occurring at approximately 6 months of age moves the soft palate and epiglottis further apart, thus leading to an opening up of the oral area and a marked increase in an infant’s ability to breathe orally.
4- As obligate nasal breathers, young infants could experience significant breathing trouble with simple illnesses, such as the common cold which often causes nasal congestion and a runny nose.
5- More seriously it could contribute to potentially serious breathing problems, including, a dangerous lack of oxygen in the blood stream, cardiac and neurological complications.
This could be the mechanism of the obstructive type of apnea and of the asphyxia type of death that is better known Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.

ABSTRACT
An infant breathing aid soother apparatus designed for monitoring respiration of an obligatory nose breather infant suffering from nasal congestion. Helping to decongest nasal passages by administering medicated vapours, facilitate oral breathing during nasal congestion and delivering a high pitched alarm in the event of respiratory failure.
The infant breathing aid assembly includes a breath through oral member, which at the nipple end has an air duct therein towards the neck of the oral member which is fitted to a face shield.

The face shield is fitted with a cylindrical compartment which houses the vapor emitting disc and the tubular air duct assembly, it also houses a Micro electronic sensor which continuously measures the CO2 levels in the Infants breath, and should the CO2 presence in the infants breath reaches a critical level it sound a high pitch alarm to indicate a possible respiratory failure. The air duct from the nipple in the oral member extends via various assemblies through to the rear of the device where it reaches ambient air, enabling the infant to breath.

The invention is innovative as there are currently no similar products on the market. It can be manufactured in the same procedure as a normal pacifier and it can be marketed in Pharmacies and administered in medical establishments.

Soon after my daughter was born in 2007 it became evident that she was suffering from nasal passage blockage as she struggled to breath, having observed her helpless condition and her suffering I studied about her condition and other infants with the similar problems and how It could be helped.
Having spent hours at Great Ormond Street Children hospital London with my daughter ,consulting with the medical professionals, several designs and prototypes later I finally submitted my design for patenting in 2012.
