Mississippi to Colorado River Waterway
Provide a waterway from the Mississippi River basin to the Colorado River basin. This preliminary plan shows the waterway starting at Greenville, Mississippi and ending at Navajo Reservoir in New Mexico. The goal was to minimize rise of the waterway to reduce pumping costs. A secondary goal was to route the water through arid areas where potential taps could be made to supplement water supplies in those areas.

The Mississippi floods regularly and this excess water is desperately needed in the west. This is an immense undertaking and reflects the need to move resources where they are needed. Large scale modeling and design, innovative water transport methods, and computerized control are just some of the technology that will be needed to perform this project.
