The main objective of our project is to develop a wheelchair which can be controlled by the movement of the eyes for the mobility of the old and physically disabled. In our project we are using a goggle to which we are fitting two eye tracking sensors. These sensors sense the movement of the eyeball’s direction and converts it into digital data and transfer it to a microcontroller. Here in the transmitter section, an encoder is used which helps in encoding the parallel digital value to serial digital value and an RF transmitter module converts this into the required carrier signal.
The RF receiver fetches the data from the RF transmitter. When the address and data pin gets matched the decoder decodes the serial data parallel to the microcontroller. The motors are controlled through the microcontroller using the motor driver for the wheelchair to move. We are using 2 Transmitter and 2 Receiver modules.
We have fitted gyroscopes and accelerometers beneath the wheelchair so that it balances the wheelchair only on two wheels.
The mechanism is aimed at addressing the following challenges:
1) Our design aims at solving the mobility problem for old and physically challenged people.
2) Unlike the other wheelchairs which are controlled manually, our design can be controlled by the movement of eyes which solves their problem of dependency on others.
CONCLUSION:Our project is cost effective and it can be designed with ''LOW COST.'' In order to understand the problems and resolve potential issues, our team has built a prototype of this project by overcoming the design problems and it's working fine.
