The proposed project is about generation of instantaneously Ultra High Vacuum (UHV) [2] to deflect or damp the blast load of the high explosive explosions. This method can be used as standard countermeasure against any type of warfare explosions.
This project aimed to reduce the blast load caused by any type of the weapon explosions. After a very short time of the detonation, system reacts as a vacuum generator that pulls the whole blast load and throws away from the area to be protected. System reaction time has to be short enough to generate UHV before the blast reaches the area to be protected. Since the highly compressed air after detonation may have supersonic velocities [1].
A high explosive impulsive waveform may have peak incident pressure of 5000 psi at the positive pressure phase [1], on the other hand a Turbomolecular pump may generate 10^-8 Pa of vacuum [2]. According to the blast and the protecting area requirements, serial pumps may be connected to achieve instant high speed UHV [2,3].
An illustration of the UHV blast dampening system sketched in order to briefly explain the working principal under an armored vehicle.
Conic shaped equipment (3,4) located left and right side of the rectangle (1, Armored Vehicle) are the UHV pumps acting to generate UHV. As the sensor (2) located under the vehicle triggers the UHV pumps, they start to generate instantaneous UHV to deflect the load of the explosion (5) to the secure sides of the vehicle (6,7).
