This is Aviation's latest advance. The developer has a patent. The Otto US Patent is #8,376,268 for a flight control system using air thrust devices. The aviation market grows over 6% per year. New commercial (4/day) and military (2/day) aircraft can be supplied w/ the systems. The devices can replace wings and tails. When they are not operating they have almost zero drag.
Drag is a serious problem. The wing structures stick out from the body to create uplift but require planes to run their engines. The innovative air thrust devices allow planes to fly w/o the engines running. After decades of study the best idea was the super-critical wing that reduced drag by 10%. Nothing else is available today.
A favorable projection is to exclusively supply the air vectoring structures and computing control systems to aircraft assemblers. Improving current fleets (10,000 airliners & 9,600 military planes) plus retrofitting the shells of planes (thousands are in salvage yards) are additional opportunities. Retrofitting can be pursued when production begins.
The benefits are: 1. shorter flights, 2. higher flights, 3. more aerobatic flights (combat), 4. lower take-off speed, 5. lower landing speed, 6. quicker acceleration, 7. higher top speed, 8. lower aircraft weight, 9. can operate as air brakes anytime, 10. can tilt away from the body for higher volume/faster air from scoop nozzle, 11. can rotate nozzle 360 degrees, 12. can point nozzle straight back, 13. drag can be near zero (air flows through) if the devices are not in use, 14. can fly w/ engines shut off to save fuel, and 15. flat panel structures can be easily cut & assembled. The key benefits are: autonomous flight is possible w/ a computing control system & military fighters can be more reactive. The value proposition is that improved safety & quicker trips can be attained.
The features mentioned are possible from inexpensive flat panels of non-corrosive metals or structural plastics that can be cut & assembled into configurations. The scoop units can change their position anytime to act as air brakes to decrease speed, plus allow planes to float to the ground when the units tilt away from the body. The technologies can also be used in an aquatic environment. Watercraft can also use the deflecting devices and computing systems to balance ships at the time of effect on the boat body (to float level) or to decrease rocking in storms. This is an advanced stability system for millions of boats & ships. The thrust units can be attached to the ships with motors inside the bodies.
In conclusion, the advanced technologies can change Aviation & marine applications. Some help can make researching the technologies possible in the next months. Support funding is the next step to achieve the research and start production of the flat panel units. Becoming a supplier to aircraft assemblers can occur soon. The corporation documents are available if they are needed for this design contest. Thank you for considering the idea.
