This invention proposes a low-cost means to minimize a building's cooling cost as well as extend the life of the roofing.
The proposed device consists of a special ridge vent which allows water to drain on the roof. The gutters collect the water and store it in a cistern to be re-used.
Web-aware electronics monitor the attic temperature to determine when to pump the water, or when to drain the plumbing. Ball floats in the high points act as a ball-check to facilitate draining and filling.
The weight of water and height of the roof peak, a small tank in the attic could be filled with a small, low-power pump. A larger, high-volume pump in the attic would supply the ridge vent.
