This oral pathometer device will be able to measure chemicals that indicate host pathology and the bacterial/viral antigenic molecules. It gives not only pathogen counts but also potential measures disease activity. This invention and development are protected by patent.
Field of the Inventions and Development
The primary development involved implementation of a device that can transmit a particular set of defined frequency signals through a small saliva container. This development represents the confluence of at least two separate industries; their disciplines, technical approaches, and processes. To produce a low-cost, small, portable and no-consumables instrument. This device will be able to directly measure chemical compounds that indicate host pathology and the bacterial/viral antigenic molecules. It is anticipated that these efforts will result in a real-time non-invasive measuring device that will become a commercial market standard.
This device will be cheap and be able to be installed in any dental surgery. It will be able to directly measure and quantify compounds which indicate host pathology and bacterial/viral antigenic molecules and give not only pathogen counts but also potential measure disease activity. It would use a simple saliva analysis and would not require test strips or reagents. The only single-use component is the saliva container for the testing. The device would have updatable software which would add new tests as they are developed and validated. It could also be used to measure vitamin levels in blood and warn the dentist of other health issues that may effect dental treatment.
The applications for this type of device, which takes the path lab to the patient for real-time analysis, is only be limited by the ability to detect the various compounds and the software detection methods used.
Potential Usages of the Device.
The initial drive will be to place a non-invasive self-contained oral pathometer onto the market. The pathometer could be used to measure single-point assessments but also continuous assessments. Thus this device could be the first comprehensive oral pathology assessment device that is non-invasive and non-consumable.
Multiple other potentially developable usages of the device include monitoring drug trials, normal pathology scanning for a health care professional, and disease specific monitoring. This device has immense potential for development as a scanning diagnostic tool and is likely to allow a more speedy diagnosis of diseases as it will expedite the knowledge available to clinicians in real-time.
