Reducing dependency on carbon fuels is a major goal and concern for many. One way to do this is to increase gas mileage as well as reduce the use of combustion engines that also burn oil as well. When this is achieved the outcome would not only reduce our use of carbon fuels but lower consumer prices by Paying less for vehicle fuel, reduce the up and down price changes by an unstable industry. The device I propose would accomplish this with very little cost increase to the auto manufactures and consumers.
Let’s look at three types of vehicles: combustion, hybrids and electric. Combustion engines are worst abusers of fossil fuel. Hybrids are a good alternative but change from electronic to gas engines around 35 mph. Electronic vehicles are best but require constant charging.
The invention I propose is call a kinetic energy converter because it uses the kinetic power created by the vehicles motion to generate electricity for battery changing and adding extra torque to an electric motor before changing over to the combustion engine. The kinetic converter also increases power and output as the cars speed increase providing greater torque for the electronic engine.
The device would attach to each non drive axle on the vehicle. It would consist of three blades (circular disk), two stationary and one, centered, that turns with the vehicles axle(s). The center blade would consist of equally spaced, circular magnets. Each placed with its north and south poles alternating with the poles pointing toward each outer plate. The two outer plates would have the same number of equally space coils parallel to the inner magnets polls. The coils would have a semi-magnetic or ferromagnetic core. The coil units would have a diameter the same size or slightly smaller the circular magnets. As the inner magnets turn, an alternative positive and negative magnetic field would be applied to the two linear outer coils. The coils with positive charges would add increasing amplitude and the negative units would also add. Converting the negative side on the AC sine wave to positive would increase the frequency.
Add extra charging power to the battery (along with other hybrid methods) allowing for stronger battery usage. When the vehicle increases speed, the power from this device would switch to add to the torque of the electric motor. This would allow the electric motor to run longer and at higher speeds (example: instead of turning off around 30mph, it would run until 60 or 70mph) decreasing the use of the combustion engine and increasing gas mileage
As an example, 10” blades, coil diameter 5cm, coil length 5cm, 8 units per blade, coil turns 1000; magnetic field 0.5 T would theoretically produce the following EMF voltages at 20, 40, 60, and 80mph.
20mph = 13V, 40mph = 25V, 60mph = 37V, and 80mph = 50V per coil unit. This would increase when devices to other none drive axles. These numbers would change some under actual.
