Problem Description

Safety and economical fuel consumption are the two biggest challenges faced by the automobile industry. On individual capacity a vehicle owner will want a system that can reduce the fuel consumption and enhance the safety factors.

Fuel efficiency greatly depends upon the driving techniques that in turn depend upon the operating conditions of the machine. It is beyond human capacity to consider all the variables and make effective decisions. The restrictions of human capacity and random variables involved greatly supports the requirement of an intelligent system that can make calculated decisions.

Innovation, Design & Novelty (How this system will work)

An intelligent system that can consider involved factors can override manual driving techniques and habits to deliver a better fuel efficiency.

The vehicle will be fitted with a camera system that will capture data from the track ahead of the vehicle; the same is communicated with the central server. The central server having advance software modeling techniques will create a 3D model of the track. In this fashion as well as from different sources like Google Maps, the server will create a 3D model of road network.

Thus available 3D models can be downloaded in the onboard vehicle system for a real time display while driving.

The system will also download processed data from the server corresponding to the 3D modeling. This will be the mathematical interpretation of the 3D track. The onboard processor with capability to work on this data will make effective decisions.

3D view of the road ahead will give the driver a calculated anticipation of the coming driving conditions adding security while driving.

Apart from the above data, the onboard processor will work on real time data from the installed sensors in the vehicle.

The onboard processor in the machine will process the downloaded data for the terrain ahead and the data from the sensors available in the vehicle and will make calculated changes to speed, RPM, to best suit the road in order to achieve the best fuel efficiency.
The data will allow processor to calibrate the system based on the conditions like, angle of inclination, slope, condition of road etc. Without any such system the vehicle is operated at an average calibration, with onboard processing the system will make regular changes into the critical factors affecting fuel consumption.
The sensors will also calibrate the headlight intensity based on the speed, the available light and the physical positioning of the vehicle.

The major task will be to integrate the intelligent system. The task of creating a service wing of this offering will be challenging.
