The current backpack frame used by the US military is called the MOLLE II system. It is a rigid piece of plastic that acts as an anchoring point for straps and packs, sometimes holding upwards of 120 pounds of gear. APEframe is an Articulated Pad, External Frame that furthers the MOLLE system of strap connections and modularity. It is flexible and has pads that keep the pack more stable while the soldier walks, allowing the pack to stay upright despite the natural sway of the torso while walking. The pads can be configured for comfort and will fit any size body. The idea of APEframe can be expanded beyond military into fire/rescue or even scuba applications.
